The Kasian Gallery at the University of Calgary is featuring the ‘Building Curiosity’ exhibition which displays a selection of images by architectural photographer James McMenamin. The photographs encapsulate the importance of character and sense of history of a unique space.
The exhibition includes images of the interior and exterior of the vacant Calgary Education Center (Stevenson Raines Barrett Hutton Seton & Partners 1969) and the ideas generated by MoDA Architecture, Nyhoff Architecture and SPECTACLE for the reuse of the building. The research work of Lindsay Horan, Leanne Junnila and Naryn Davar/Phil Wilson is also displayed. ‘Building Curiosity’ also features photographs of other spaces that were ripe for reinvigoration.
‘Building Curiosity’ opens on Tuesday 12th November and runs until 28th November 2013. Gallery hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. A public reception will be held Friday 22nd November 6:00pm – 7:30pm.
The Kasian Gallery is located at the Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS), Room 2182, Professional Faculties Building, University of Calgary, 2500 University Drive, Calgary AB.
